Some commonly asked questions about balloons, and our services...

Do your balloons have any environmental impact?

The latex balloons used by Style Celebrations are 100% biodegradable, and when handled correctly pose no threat to wildlife or the environment. They completely degrade in a period of about six months.

What happens to a helium filled balloon if released?

Studies have shown that helium filled latex balloons can rise to altitudes of about 35,000 feet, where the atmospheric pressure and the air temperature are such that the balloon shatters into spaghetti like strands.

Is helium dangerous?

In a word - No. Helium is the second most abundant element in the universe. It is an inert gas, meaning it does not react with any other element, and is non-flammable and non-toxic.
Style Celebrations strongly recommend, however, that helium is not inhaled as this can displace oxygen from the lungs, and could cause unconsciousness.

Are balloons safe for children?

We recommend that balloons are not given to children under the age of three. Under sevens should not be allowed to play with balloons unsupervised.

What types and sizes of balloons are there?

Balloons are manufactured from latex, foil (aluminium and nylon) and plastic. There is a huge range of sizes and shapes across these fabrics, but round latex balloons generally range from 5" to a massive 8', and foils typically from 4" to 40".

How long do balloons stay inflated for?

Balloons are, by their nature, temporary items therefore it is not possible to give any absolutes or guarantees on float or inflation times. Style Celebrations only use professional standard balloons to ensure that you are getting the best products available. As a general guide though, helium filled foil balloons can be expected to stay inflated for many days, even weeks. An untreated 11" latex balloon will typically float between 16 - 24 hours, however, all helium filled latex balloons provided by Style Celebrations are treated to extend the float time from several hours to many days, giving you better value for money and a longer lasting product.

How much do your balloons cost?

This is almost impossible to answer in general terms, similar to "How much does a car cost?" or "How much is a bouquet of flowers?" - it is dependant on many factors.

We can, however, provide designs and compositions to suit all budgets for all occassions. We pride ourselves on offering bespoke decor, therefore normally a price can only be quoted when the full requirements are understood, although if there is something you have seen on our website you'd like, we'd be happy to give you a quote.

Is it true that some hospitals won't allow latex balloons?

Whilst we can't advise on the policy of every hospital, in our experience we have never been told by a hospital that latex ballons cannot be delivered.
Should you require a delivery to be made to a hospital we'll check with them on their policy before commencing with your order.

Do you sell uninflated balloons, helium and other party products to customers?

Currently this isn't a service we offer, as all of our time and effort is taken up with designing and providing quality balloon decor to Edinburgh and East Central Scotland. We may look to include this in future, but if you need the name of a supplier local to Edinburgh and the surrounding area, please contact us.

Why can't I order arrangements or decor online?

Our aim is to offer you the best possible service, ensuring that your requiements are fully met. In order to achieve this, we prefer to discuss each requirement with a client - this ensures that you know exactly what to expect, and we know exactly what to produce. It is difficult to convey just how impressive an arrangement can be with a small photograph and some text on a website, and the last thing we want is for you to purchase an unsuitable product.
